Last year, the Jacky Winter Group and Melbourne’s GPO presented True Self, a charity exhibition that linked fashion, fine art and photography. Raising over $8000 for not-for-profit organisation Fitted for Work through the sale of a series of A3 prints produced for the exhibition, the success of the initiative sees True Self return in 2013.
With the core element of collaboration, ten visual artists and ten photographers have been commissioned to collaborate to produce an artwork that draws from the theme of positive self image.
The resulting ten art works are on exhibition at the GPO from Friday 31st May to Sunday 23rd June, with the works on display in A0 sized, bespoke framed fine-art prints that will be sold via silent auction during the exhibition. A limited edition run of A3 prints will also be available for sale, along with A6 postcard packs.
As with last year, proceeds of all sales will go to Fitted for Work, an organisation that helps women experiencing disadvantage gain skills and confidence to find work, including providing work attire and job interview training. To date, over 12,000 women have been helped through their mentoring and transition to work programs.
