Art critic and curator Francesca Gavin’s has collected an array of visual interpretations of the hear for a new book The Book of Hearts, published by Laurence King.
As the book captures, arts can see the heart as something that can be whole, paired, cracked or broken, pierced, burning, locked, torn or cute. “The perfect metaphor of the gamut of human emotion” says Gavin. “No other symbol quite packs the same punch.”
