The Week In Review – Rone
People - by Open Journal
As the National Gallery of Victoria is putting the finishing touches on its The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition, Melbourne street artist Rone is putting the finishing touches to his contribution to the exhibition, bingeing on murder mysteries and of course, hoping to meet Monsieur Gaultier himself…
Along with 140 garments from the archives of the inimitable French couturier, plus photographs, sketches, costumes and video excerpts, Rone has been commissioned to paint his signature, large scale mural portraits of Australian JPG muses including Kylie, Andreja Pejić and Cate Blanchett.
FRIDAY, 3 OCTOBER 2015
This week I’ve been…
Reading: Reddit.com – I lack the concentration to sit and read a book. I was quoted, as once saying ‘If it’s a book’ I haven’t read it.
Watching: Top of the lake, or any kind of murder mystery that I can binge watch.
Listening to: Podcasts. I’ve gotten sick of hearing my music collection of late!
Talking about: The history of Melbourne street-art. In ten years it has gone from an ignored sub-culture to something of world recognition. I’m pretty stoked to be part of that.
Working on: Putting the finishing touches on my installation inside the Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibition at the NGV. For the past week I’ve been on a scissor lift inside the gallery working on 4 portraits of Cate Blanchett, Kylie Minogue, Andreja Pejić and Gemma Ward.
Hoping to: I’m hoping to meet Jean Paul Gaultier in later this month at the NGV.
