At Home with Jeff Provan

Completed in 1995, Jeff Provan’s Canterbury Road home is to be auctioned for the first time.

Provan, one of Neometro’s three Directors, built the three bedroom home for his young family. Twenty years on, it has more than stood the test of time.

Horizontal glass panels join internal walls with the ceiling, filtering light in from the series of indented courtyards and elevated terraces. The way natural light fills the home is stunning. Bi-fold doors open the rear family area out onto the back courtyard, the first and second floors enjoying the same effect via tiered decks. The second floor deck in particular makes the most of the inner city view right off the master bedroom.

Coupled with the light, the natural materials employed throughout ground the house within its block. Polished concrete ceilings, cement columns, stone wall detail and timber framing gives the house a tactile lure which naturally breathes within its leafy setting.

The three bathrooms are finished with Carrara marble and white tiled meticulously.

The central void that focuses the two flight of stairs streams light from the half cylindrical studio on the second floor. One block parallel from Roy Ground’s iconic Moobria on Mathoura Road, Provan’s studio, striking from the street scape, is in good company.
