Brunswick East House by Studio Esteta is the poetic celebration of a refined, uncomplicated palette that nurture’s the allusion of space and introduces a cleansing element of peace to an abode in inner urban Melbourne.

There is a sublime expression of understated confidence articulated by the restrained use of colour and East Brunswick House by Studio Esteta is a perfect example.

The refurbishment of an existing single storey weatherboard residence called for a seamless, yet functional and structured spatial arrangement to complement the family in residence. The compact nature of the home presented a challenge common to inner urban housing and provided an opportunity for the carefully considered and exceptionally clever use of space.

With the practise of restaint at its core, the design philosphy for the terrace home is hinged on two factors, the ability to incorporate all the requirements relevant to the flow of everyday life for this particular family, and the realisation of design assets in a manner that renders the residence decidedly unfussy and beautifully refined.

The brief essentially sort to maintain the homes overall floor plan but maximise spatial efficiencies to incorporate a new ensuite and an open plan kitchen, dining and living arrangement.

Through clever and considered planning, both the aesthetics and functionality of the residence have been entirely altered resulting in a home that, although compact, imbues a sense of warmth and spaciousness. The resulting design comprises of a series of efficient spaces including; a master bedroom, walk in robe, ensuite, bathroom with integrated euro laundry, kitchen with adjacent pantry, and open plan dining and living areas.

The design maximises every millimetre of space to provide for an efficient open plan kitchen, dining and living zone. Full height joinery lines the perimeter of the fully intergrated pantry to form a defined portal into the space and effortlessly assimilate high level storage, a fridge alcove and stone clad cook bank reveal.

A palette of soft grey two-pack joinery finishes, Lima marble featuring intrinsic veins, warm timbers and dark bronze fixtures are sensitively balanced with refined sophistication, evident in the clean lines and light filled interior.
