Chasing the Sky
Architecture - by Open Journal
Maven Publishing has launched as a unique publishing house whose programme reflects a desire for storytelling, documenting developments and stories from within contemporary design.
Based in Sydney, Maven’s focus is on the people behind the built environment, revealing the expertise that manages the complex programmes of finance, design and construction. It’s a unique selling point that Michael Holt, Maven’s Programme Director and the former editor of Architectural Review Asia Pacific, sees as a compelling niche in the bemoaned publishing sector. One that responds to the ever present appetite for exceptional design and high production quality reference books of the professional design community.
Maven’s carefully edited titles are designed to serve professional communities and education institutions worldwide by presenting case studies of leadership, innovation and creativity.
The small team of 5 are celebrating their first title release this month: Chasing the Sky: 20 Stories of Women in Architecture, which brings together the voices of prominent and emerging design talent, offering an incisive glimpse into the richness of contemporary Australian Architecture.
Nichola Garvey, Maven’s Writing Director, hopes the series “will successfully drive awareness and showcase the expertise of the industry’s thought leaders.
“The publications will no doubt become inspirational to all levels of the industry and at all stages of their career.” Maven’s inaugural title, Chasing the Sky launching in Melbourne this Thursday 6 April at No Vacancy Gallery from 6pm. Be sure to RSVP to dean [at] maven-publishing.com
