New Urban Village at Jewell Station Launch
Arts & Events - by Open Journal
This Saturday Neometro is launching the New Urban Village at Jewell Station – a series of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments created within the context of community gardens, bike paths, outdoor performance areas, park space, public art and more.
The New Urban Village is built on the idea that well-designed apartments support wellbeing and connection in the community, an ethos that reflects our commitment to High Density Happiness.
High Density Happiness is about creating infrastructure that supports resilient communities while incorporating environmentally-sustainable design principles into the built form. Sustainability is central to every aspect of the New Urban Village with open air corridors for natural ventilation, strong thermal mass to avoid the need for excessive artificial heating and cooling, double glazed windows, shade awnings that come with every apartment for passive cooling, solar panels, rainwater tanks, rooftop gardens and ample private and public bike storage.
The apartments at Jewell Station have interiors designed by Clare Cousins Architects, with a distinct focus on context, space and quality materials.
“Energy efficient interiors and smart use of space will give a nuanced residential experience with a natural sense of flow,” Clare said. “By harnessing contrasts, applying modern fittings and finishes, and using environmental cues, these apartments will be light and welcoming places to live.”
Jewell Station a collaboration between many people- a truly collective endeavour which will see the integration of new apartments with a raft of social and community programs and infrastructure developed in close partnership with VicTrack.
Our display will open to the public for the first time this Saturday August 6 at 15A Union Street, Brunswick.
We have renovated a disused signal house with Clare Cousins Architects which plays host to the Open Journal Instagram Exhibition as well as Phase One Coffee and 3000acres.
Register your interest in joining the Neometro community at Jewell Station.
