NYC launches Bike Share

With even The New Yorker dedicating its cover to it, New York’s bike share system, Citibike, is already the talk of the town – literally just a week after launching.

From haters amusingly peddling impending death and the cycling led apocalypse, just so “New Yorkers can pretend they are in London or Paris”…

…through to the ever loveable Bill Cunningham, who dedicated his Sunday New York Times column and gallery to the ‘spoke spinners‘ of NYC, with an joyous giggle in his voice that just doesn’t let up. 

Time Magazine has news of Department of Transportation commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan ecstatically proclaiming “with 75,000 trips in just one week, Citi Bike is New York’s new summer blockbuster… It’s like a cross between social media and transportation — these bikes are three-speed conversation pieces.”

And finally, it was only a matter of time before Jon Stewart got stuck in on The Daily Show…
