Robert Longo Charcoal Works

Around the web - by Open Journal

“Charcoal is this incredibly fragile material. I’m making images of paintings out of dust”

Interviewed by long term friend Keanu Reeves, New York artist and director Robert Longo discusses his remarkably vivid large-scale charcoal works, such as the renowned Men in the Cities series (1979) and new works appearing in his current exhibition at Metro Pictures, NYC.

“For those of you out there who are not familiar with Robert Longo’s work,” Reeves states “please pause and go look at it. Be astounded and inspired and come back.”

And he’s not exaggerating. Longo’s charcoal works are astounding. Check out his website for more.
