Edmund Capon AM, OBE has curated more than 50 works that document the triumphs of modernism in Australian art from the past 60 years. The Triumph of Modernism in the Art of Australia, that will open at TarraWarra Museum of Art from June 20- August 16, features work both from the Tarrawarra collection and external sources.

Incorporating contemporary works by artists such as Imants Tillers, Howard Arkley and Aida Tomescu results in an exhibition that emphasises “the important history of Australian modernism through the filter of the present,” said TarraWarra Museum of Art Director, Victoria Lynn.
The exhibition also features artists including George Baldessin, Charles Blackman, Arthur Boyd, John Brack, William Delafield Cook, William Dobell, Russell Drysdale, Ian Fairweather, Joy Hester, Dale Hickey, Roger Kemp, Joanna Lamb, Godfrey Miller, Sidney Nolan, John Olsen, John Perceval, Jeffrey Smart, Tim Storrier, Edwin Tanner, Tony Tuckson, Brett Whiteley, Fred Williams and William Wright.

The collection of such a variety of artists, each formidable in their reputation, is a rare treat and one that should make for a perfect day trip this weekend.
The TarraWarra Museum of Art was designed by Allan Powell from Powell and Glenn Architects, opening in 2003. Twelve years on, that ability of the building to frame the landscape is far from lost to visitors. Large window panes present views across the Yarra Valley as works of art themselves. A finer combination of art, architecture and wine is seldom found in the region.
